What a Mistake

So here I am, super excited for my first half marathon on Sunday.

It’s all I’ve been thinking about.

I made a huge mistake today.

I didn’t feel like running this morning, but by this evening, I was itching for a good run.  I decided to take this bum for a run:

He’s never been running before.  Not with his person anyway.

We left the house, and he was a ball of energy, so we quickly ran down the hill to the bottom of the street.

We then turned left onto a back road, but since I’ve never taken him running before, he didn’t know how to respond and he ran in front of me.  I tripped, rolled my ankle, and fell.  In front of some people standing outside in their driveway.  Whoops.

After having to explain I was okay, and I’ve never taken my dog running before, I ran off quickly to avoid any further awkwardness.

I did my lap around a few blocks a little too quickly.  This quick pace, combined with the fast pace down the hill, combined with running with my dog, resulted in:

– one moment of sheer awkwardness
– three moments of almost getting hit by a car
– one rolled ankle
– one strained quad

If I pulled my quad or rolled my ankle to the point that I can’t run in my first half marathon ever on Sunday, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to forgive myself.

I always tell myself I’ll never regret a workout, but for once, I was wrong.  I am so mad at myself for going for that run this evening.  I wish I had done it differently or could just scrap it completely.

Keep your fingers crossed for me.
