Back in the day, I did a lot of long distance running, and earlier this year, I ran the La Jolla Half Marathon. Throughout all of my training, I’d see other bloggers talk about compression socks and compression sleeves, and I was jealous. I wanted some but never ended up buying them…
So recently, when I was offered a chance to try PRO Compression Calf Sleeves as part of my being a Sweat Pink Ambassador, I jumped at the opportunity.
More about compression calf sleeves, directly from the PRO Compression website:
“Marathon Calf Sleeves combine the optimal blend of advanced materials and innovative design to deliver maximum benefit. True graduated compression technology helps improve blood flow and oxygen delivery, resulting in better, more consistent performance with less fatigue and faster recovery.
Thanks to our advanced design, Marathon Calf Sleeves also support critical muscles and tendons, helping reduce inflammation and soreness associated with running and other activities. Put it all together for the perfect compression sleeve for training, racing, recovery and travel.”
I’ve actually done a lot of research on these in the past, and my old running store shared an article on this awhile back. What I mostly took away from my research, and the reason why I wanted compression socks/sleeves is to reduce fatigue in certain muscles through increased blood flow.
While I haven’t been training for any marathons or half marathons (though I’d love to do either in the next few months), I have been running hills more often and also been jump roping in the backyard (since it gives Maeby an opportunity to play around and me a chance to do a little different of a workout).
I’ve been wearing the socks around after these kinds of workouts, and have tried them out several times, and I have to say, I love them so far.
I don’t know whether my calves have been less sore because of the calf sleeves or because I’m in better shape (doubtful), but I’ve been really pleased with the product so far and I’m excited to keep using them in the future.
If you’ve been on the fence about trying these out, I’d recommend just giving these a try, especially since you can get a 40% discount off your entire purchase from PRO Compression, with the discount code PINK.
